The Fremantle Dockers have been proud supporters of Starlight for the past 21 years. Freo players regularly attend the Starlight Express Rooms at Perth Children's Hospital to bring a smile to the face of sick kids and participate in Starlight's wishgranting program.

For their 20th Purple Haze game, Freo kicked 13 goals to raise over $52,000 as part of Starlight Fans Pledge. The first $50,000 was then matched by fundraising partner South32!

The Fremantle Dockers will be taking part in Starlight’s Fans Pledge and kicking goals to help sick kids once again at the 22nd Starlight Purple Haze Game, proudly presented by South32 at Optus Stadium on Sunday 21 July.

When I was 16/17, I spent time in the Women and Children’s Hospital (Adelaide) for cancer treatment, so it was nice to go back there... and put things into perspective. It’s amazing what Starlight does, and what the Starlight Captains do to put a smile on the sick kids’ faces. Starlight is massive. After seeing what they do firsthand, it’s just unbelievable. That’s why I like to try and spend my time there (Starlight Express Room), to give back in a little way, to take the kids’ minds away from the hospital.

When I got the opportunity to jump on board as a Starlight ambassador, I grabbed it with both hands because I love what Starlight does and I think it’s so important. To be able to visit the kids at the hospital is so special to me. I don’t think you can put value on how important a kid's happiness is, so to have Starlight to be able to shine a light on some hard situations and make the hospital a fun, safe and enlightening space, is so important and I admire the work that they do."
